It doesn’t matter if you like them arched and feathered or straight and bold, eyebrows are arguably the most important facial feature. If you’re not satisfied with the ones you have, we’d like to introduce you to microblading.
Unlike a regular tattoo, microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Hair-like strokes are drawn with a tool to mimic natural hairs in your brows. Even though it’s not as deep as the regular tattoo, it’s still a tattoo because pigment is implanted under the skin
Does it hurt?
Anaesthetic cream is applied to the brows before the treatment begins and left to settle into the skin while you choose your brow colour. During the treatment you will feel a scraping sensation but it shouldn’t be particularly painful. More anaesthetic can be added during the treatment to further numb the area if necessary.
How do they heal?
On the day of treatment the brows may look slightly red and the brow will look stronger and darker than expected. Any redness will fade within a couple of hours. A ‘crust’ will form over the brows which will naturally flake off across the next 4-5 days. This should be left to happen naturally – if you pick off the skin you could cause uneven pigment.
The shade of the brows will initially appear quite dark but will fade by around 50% as the brow heals.
During this time, you will need to apply a balm four times a day or when the eyebrows feel tight or itchy.
How long will they last?
After the first treatment you will need a second 4 weeks later to review the result and fill in any areas that need it. The brow will fade naturally over 12-18 months as the skin rejuvenates, at which time you will need a top-up treatment to retain the shape and colour. A colour top-up can be carried out every 6 months to maintain depth of tone.
Permanent cosmetic procedures will normally require multiple treatment sessions. For best results clients will be required for at least one retouch procedure, usually between 1-3 months after initial procedure.
